Hey there,
Thanks for reading along...as I mentioned a couple days ago, we realized in Q1 that there are some things working well with Jack....and some things that we needed to improve (humblest of sorries in advance to those who have noticed that my spelling and grammar are horrrrrible...there are some things even the spell checker can't fix). Ok...I won't sugar coat it....there were things we needed to add to Jack to give him a fighting chance.
I may have mentioned that we had some additional enhancements coming to the site in the near future. I may have also mentioned that things were moving quickly (I may have also used the phrase "needless to say" twice for no good reason. sorry about that).
Well, needless to say, some of the enhancments that I said were on their way....are here.
To recap what was in the Q1 recap of things to come in Q2 (the time period of April - June) and where we are with each:
- revised registration page (less fields of info to complete...and just a prettier overall look and feel to it....it's niiiice...it's coming soooon) - IT'S HERE NOW!!!
- public profile pages (like on the other sites you frequent)....like the others, you will have the option to share what elements of WHO YOU ARE on this site with the public...we think it's intuitive and easy to control...let us know what you think - IT'S HERE NOW!!!
- option to receive email notifications - IT'S HERE NOW!!!
- option to "be remembered" (one less step in giving a poop regularly) - IT'S HERE NOW!!!
- user search options (for registered users) - IT'S HERE NOW!!!
- don't even start me on the forthcoming estore....it's good stuff (for good causes...or did you not get that by now?)
- annnnnd we are still working through a revamped volunteer and community board http://www.jackthedonkey.com/Forum.aspx
The bottom two....still to come....and a couple other things now on the list.
As you who have been watching have noticed, the format to the Donkey Show has evolved...yet is a work in progress . Originally, the idea for the Donkey Show (one you could bring your grandmother to and not feel too uncomfortable about....hiyoooooo)...was that people spend so much time online "being social"....what would happen if we created a site....where people could come...view....vote on pics and boards....all the while making money for their chosen charities (did you know that you are making money for various charities as you read this?...if you register - you can tell us which one you want to be the specific beneficiary of your time on Jack).
Buuuuut this idea has grown up a bit....JackTheDonkey.com is now more than just a place to post pics and earn free dollars for charities....there's a new...dare I say it..."social networking" aspect to Jack...NOW, you can create a "public" profile....where you can share a few words about who you are....post some of your favorite pics for others to view....show others what pics you've been commenting on and "hot listing"....share links to other sites you want to share with others on Jack. ALL THE WHILE MAKING MONEY FOR YOUR CHOSEN CHARITY. But again...you need to register to view these.
The basic idea behind the donkey show was that...if a picture is worth a thousand words....imagine how much your pics (and now YOU) are worth to the charities we should all be supporting a little more regularly.
I almost forgot to mention....the ability to make any aspect of your profile public or private is up to you to easily manage...but remember, the more you freely share with the Jack community...the more "content" you create...ergo (I thought I would never get to use that word in a public forum) the more we can donate to the charities listed on Jack.
Soooooo thanks again for reading along....if you can register, and tell us which charity you want to be the beneficiary of your online social time....that would be grand.
One last thing....I'm still not sure what I want to do with this "blog" thing. For now....I see it as a good way to keep you in the loop with what I like to think is an "easy way to give a poop (publicaly, socially, freely and of course, reguarly)".
Thanks,
David
