something like this will go out in the first newsletter (to those who signed up for Jack's newsletter...I'm not a fan of spam)

Hi there,

I hope this finds you well.

I wanted to reconnect to give you an update in the life of JackTheDonkey.com.

Overall….I like to think that Jack is now getting up to speed.

The overall functionality of the site has increased to the point, where “the experts” are now calling this a legitimate social network…one that just so happens to be doing good with your time online for the charity of your choice! (to the tune of 1.1 cents EVERY impression donated by JackTheDonkey.com to your choice of 23 charities from across Canada, The US and now The UK).

For your viewing (and doing good) pleasure, attached is a link to the charities currently on Jack:  http://www.jackthedonkey.com/organization.html

When we first launched…the basic premise was around “uploading and sharing pics to create clicks for charity”….which I love.  After all, if a picture is worth a thousand words…imagine how much your pics are worth to the charities on JackTheDonkey.com.

There have been a few particularly energetic pic posters….and I thank you so much for your continued support! (To the others….please consider all the impressions your pics are creating on other sites….now imagine if the other sites donated 1.1 cents to charity…EVERY impression…nice thought huh? Well that’s what Jack does).

We then created “profile pages” for individuals on Jack (and then quickly revamped those to be a little prettier and more functional…they will be updated again soon).

And then it got even better.

To enhance your overall “social time online” we added “status updates”….which were quickly replaced with what I now call, “Deep Thoughts” (this is an example of one that I particularly liked).

The hope for your “Deep Thoughts” is that this is an easy way to create a bit of interaction without having to think too hard about what you’re going to upload in order to create a bit more interaction on JackTheDonkey.com (in a public forum such as JackTheDonkey.com – some may find uploading pics to be too personal…..problem solved?).

So now with “Deep Thoughts,” you can post a 140 character thought about anything (should we increase this to 141? Let me know) ….and see how the community reacts to it.  While the “Deep Thoughts” section is intended to create some fun for the community, I also hope that unlike other social networks where polarized thoughts tend not to connect with each other, that JackTheDonkey.com can better help in bringing opposing views (on any subject) into a common forum for discussion…and hopefully some greater good.

Delusional you say….perhaps!

There are some key pieces being added to Jack over the next little while to enhance your overall experience but more importantly….enhancing the support being shown for the charities on JackTheDonkey.com.

So one last thing…at the moment, we don’t have an option to invite your friends to JackTheDonkey.com…can I ask you to do me one small favour and forward this on to your friends/family/colleagues/oprah/ellen/etc who you think might be into the whole idea of a community where doing good with your time online for the charity of your choice…happens regularly and freely.

If you can….that would be grand….here’s the link to register and to create a profile http://www.jackthedonkey.com/register1.html

(and as a friendly reminder…please check your spam folder for activation emails)

Thanks all!

David
