Since starting JackTheDonkey.com, I have met great people both in the non-profit and corporate worlds. Their inspiration, knowledge and guidance have helped provide the clarity and direciton I find myself sometimes searching for.
Some I have met through traditional means (picking up a phone and saying hello)...others I have stalked out through Twitter and google searches...such as David Capece, Managing Partner At Sparxoo. We have spoken a couple times, and I now find myself religously visiting the Sparxoo site for the latest tidibits...
Here's a detailed report they put out recently about the rapidly evolving importance of digital media to causes. I am fascinated by this space (why else would I even have thought about entering it) and think we are just starting to see the potential impact of social media (and by "we"...I mean everyone).
Digitial Influence In Social Cause
One quote I wanted to draw your attention to...
"Countless numbers of Twitter followers or Facebook fans won’t mean anything unless people become involved, taking the buzz off-screen and turning talk into action. For non-profits, it’s often easy to get people aware but harder to get them involved"
The true power of these tools are in their ability to find the specific individuals who are going to rabidly promote and support you...to the point that they start to find individuals who are going to rabidly promote and support you....and so on and so on!
Happy times!
David
