“They” thought I was crazy when...

Sooooo I have been subscibing to "HARO" - Help A Reporter Out, with the hope that periodically, a reporter/journalist/blogger, whatever you want to call them nowadays, requires an "expert" on a particular topic for which I may be able to share some of my "wisdom".

Sooooo this past Friday, there was a request for "crazy" people....which peeked my interest. I don't know much...but I do know that when friends, family, the guy who works at the parking lot around the corner from my home/office, think of David Katz...they think crazy crazy crazy!  And I am cool with that...I am what I am.

Soooo...in response to, "Please send ONE paragraph summarizing your craziness and why you need to be included in the book and/or XXXXX. Celebrities and everyday people are welcome. Thank you!" - I submitted the following....

“They” thought I was crazy when after two years of selling my soul in the corporate world, I quit my job and bought a one way ticket to “finding myself”.  I found myself overseas, backpacking, doing maintenance in a cemetery, and being interviewed on CNN.   Hurray for business school.   “They” thought I was crazy when after the experience of a lifetime, I returned home in 2000 and rejoined the corporate world.   This past year, “they” saw me going crazy when once again I dropped out of the corporate world, this time to launch a movement, inspired by a loosely-biographical screenplay I had been writing at nights and on weekends.  Complete with suspense, romance and dark comedy, the screenplay was about a bachelor struggling with work, love and life, who in his quest to make the world a better place, dropped out of the corporate world…and ended up on Oprah.  But what could one do that would realistically land them on Oprah’s sound stage? I tapped into my obsessive compulsive disorder, and after a couple days, I started to sweat.  My heart began to race with my mind only slightly behind.  What was happening to me? Was life about to imitate art? Was it?  After quickly sketching out a business plan on a napkin and a couple phone calls later to my parents and siblings…I had found my calling in life.  I was an ass who gives a poop…and hoped to spread the “giving a poop regularly” movement to the masses.  Since then, JackTheDonkey.com (the community where your time online supports the charity of your choice) has taken over my life…and has truly been an experience of a lifetime.  Even though the screenplay is on hold for now, and I have yet to make it on Oprah, “they” were correct….I must be crazy.

 About JackTheDonkey.com:

JackTheDonkey.com is the community where your time online supports the charity of your choice.

Jack is what some call a socially responsible social network, as we donate 1.1 cents every impression to your choice of more than 20 charities from across Canada, the US, and now the UK (paid at par depending where the charity is registered).   The # of impressions...and how you create them is up to you.  Uploading, viewing or commenting on pics or "deep thoughts" makes cents for the charity of your choice.  It's that easy, fun...and yes, FREE!

Though the name will always sound a little untraditional, JackTheDonkey.com is working to connect with individuals who are traditionally unengaged from anything remotely related to volunteerism and fundraising. As such, Jack also takes a “softsell” approach to keeping the charities top of mind among existing supporters, while trickling into the consciousness of potential supporters, as the charities’ Twitter feeds have recently been incorporated into their supporters’ personal profile pages…viewable to the community.

There is another key component to the site that we are rolling out in the new year which will provide an additional stream of funds for the charities on jackthedonkey.com.

This ass gives a poop…and hopes you do to. Please join JackTheDonkey.com and start using some of the time you spend socializing online…to benefit the charity of your choice.
